Agfarm launches harvest photo competition

21 Oct, 2011 07:49 AM
People from all across Australia are invited to enter a brand new photo competition.

Agfarm, a national, independent grain marketing organisation, are running a Harvest Photo Competition for the 2011-12 season.

All entrants need is a keen eye and a good understanding of what harvest is about.

Agfarm’s Managing Director Bob McKay said the theme for this year’s competition is to capture the experience of harvest.

“The spirit of the annual harvest is a fascinating theme to convey in an image,” Mr McKay said.

“It is a time that really brings family and community together, along with a sense of industry and expectation, so we are looking for great photos that really capture that atmosphere.

“We’re particularly keen to see some entries with a unique perspective on Australia’s different geographical regions.

“Each region across the Australian Wheatbelt is different and we want to give the people who live there an opportunity to highlight the landscape, icons, characters and properties that define the area,” he said.

Agfarm are offering over $1,500 in prizes and photographic equipment to the winners as well as publication and promotion of the winning entries, which are open to growers and the wider community.

Winners will be judged by executive staff and international award winning, agricultural photography specialist, Melissa Powell, who is based in Horsham in Victoria.

Entries are open to images captured during the 2011-12 harvest and must be received by Agfarm by 30/1/2012.

Entry forms are available by calling Agfarm on 1300 243 276 or via their website.
