The legendary Dog on the Tuckerbox drew hundreds of people to Snake Gully for the celebration of its 79th birthday.
Rain caused many of the planned events to be cancelled, however didn’t dampen the spirits of the Gundagai community who traveled down the road to commemorate the milestone and raise money for charity.
Ned Lewisgilies, who became the proprietor of the dog in July, said he had worked hard to improve the area’s previously rundown appearance.
“We’ve had a beaut day here today, the interaction with the local community has been great,” Mr Lewisgilies said.
“The Tin Shed Rattlers (a local band) have been playing all day and they have been very popular,” he said.
Although the event was initially planned to raise money for Camp Quality and Gundagai Hospital, proceeds weren’t as hoped due to the previous day’s weather.
“Unfortunately because of the cancellations Camp Quality didn’t come,” Mr Lewisgilies said.
“Lots of folks donated money to the hospital today but because the event went the way it went we’re going to donate an amount of money to the hospital on top of that,” he said.
