Governor General to open 2010 Henty Machinery Field Days

03 Sep, 2010 08:18 AM
The Governor General of Australia, Ms Quentin Bryce AM, has accepted an invitation from the Henty Machinery Field Days (HMFD) to open this year’s event.

Her Excellency will attend the field days on Tuesday, September 21, 2010 in the early afternoon during which time she will conduct the official opening and inspect the site.

In announcing this, HMFD chairman Mr Ross Edwards said Ms Bryce’s visit would turn this year’s official proceedings into a “vice-regal occasion.”

“HMFD is delighted the Governor General has accepted our invitation, making this her first official visit to the Riverina in this role,” Mr Edwards said.

The Kapooka Military Band will perform at the HMFD site during the official opening.

“We encourage the public to come along for the official opening and to demonstrate to the Governor General the value of primary production and the families involved in agriculture in the Riverina,” Mr Edwards said.

The 2010 HMFD are on September 21, 22 and 23.
