In glorious winter sunshine, the 51st Henry Lawson Festival of Arts in Grenfell was another outstanding success, with many visitors coming to the town to celebrate the life of the great poet and bush balladeer. Special guest this year was well known children’s author Sandy Fussell.
Over four days, a wide variety of cultural events were held, catering for all tastes.
The street parade was watched by a large crowd and the bush poetry performances, held at the exact site of Lawson’s birth, received many accolades.
The Grenfell community fully supported the Festival and their legendary hospitality was on display again with all visitors warmly welcomed to every planned activity.
The 2008 Henry Lawson Festival was a perfect way to showcase the Grenfell town and district and organisers were pleased with the support from both locals and visitors.
Following the festival’s closure, rain began to fall in the district, making everyone happier still.
