Narrandera
The ‘town of shady trees’ is looking at adopting an innovative tree planting program to ensure its town motto remains relevant into the future. A recent survey by Australian Tree Consultants showed that a large number of Narrandera’s iconic trees are reaching the end of their life expectancy and may need removal or replacement within 10 years. If the town planted a tree to mark the birth of a child in the town and further trees were planted at each milestone in that child’s life a significant number of trees would be planted over a period of time. Narrandera Shire Council will consider the proposal as outlined by local businessman David Farley.

The positive outcomes of these projects were highlighted at an open day earlier this year and reflected the hard work of former Community Relations Manager at Barrick Cowal, Bill Shallvey and all project partners.
