Parkes- GP cup nominated for
minerals award
Last September’s inaugural GP cup which raised more than $200,000 for local doctor recruitment and retention endeavors has been nominated for a NSW Minerals Council award.
Parkes Shire Council’s Economic Development Manager Michael Greenwood and Events coordinator Katrina Dwyer have provided input into the Northparkes Mines submission.
The initiative is entered in the Community Engagement category.
The 2010 NSW Minerals Council Environment ‘Community Excellence awards,’ will be announced at the annual Minerals Council conference in September in Wollongong.
Harden- Upgrade to Binalong Pool
Binalong pool will be receiving a makeover thanks to the announcement of a $9.1 million grant which will go towards improving more than 400 sporting facility projects for local councils and not for profit sport and community groups across NSW.
A total of 411 grants were awarded under the NSW government’s new Sport and Recreation Facility Grant Program.
Binalong was granted $4020 for the village’s pool for construction of an access ramp to the facility and to separate the toddler and baby pool plus install a filtration system.
Young- Cherry queen entries are now open
Entries for the 2010 cherry queen are now open.
The National Cherry Festival organising committee is encouraging single ladies from the ages of 18-26 on October 1 this year, and who reside in the Young, area to participate.
Entrants will be treated to an afternoon of pampering-hair, nails and makeup followed by a photo shoot.
This is an opportunity for young ladies to meet new people, while representing their town and having a lot of fun.
